Free training for volunteers to tutor adults in Wayne County who want to learn to read, write and do basic math.

Programs include:

  • One-to-one adult tutoring
  • workplace literacy
  • Adult dyslexia

Homebound Service

We provide bi-weekly delivery of materials to individual homes, extended care facilities and retirement communities. Services and materials available:

  • Audio & music cassettes
  • Compact disks
  • Large print books & magazines
  • Video's DVD's and CD's
  • Film showings in facilities

 

  Bookmobile Service

Our bookmobile makes weekly visits to various locations throughout the city. During the school year the bookmobile makes stops at daycare centers and private schools. In the summer, the bookmobile makes stops at area parks, neighborhoods and daycare centers.

Services available:

  • Material check out
  • Storytelling & crafts at most stops
  • Summer Reading Program Participation

Wayne County Safety Building

We provide weekly distribution of a wide variety of books and magazines to inmates.

Service provided:

  • Reader's Advisory
  • Special request
